PURPOSE & BELIEFS

Our Purpose

The ultimate goal of God in the life of the believer is to conform him or her to the image of Christ (Romans 8:28-29). That process begins when we get saved, continues all throughout our life here on earth, and comes to fruition when we leave this life and meet the Savior face-to-face (I John 3:2-3). Our purpose here at New Testament is to help believers in this lifelong relationship with Christ. Church attendance, personal devotions, separation from the world, witnessing, and giving are all part of this journey. We want to be a lighthouse for Christ to bring salvation and sanctification to all who are connected with our church.

Our Beliefs

This is not a full list of what our church believes but rather a summary of our valued core doctrines.  For a full doctrinal statement contact the church, and we will send you a copy.

The Holy Bible

We believe the Holy Bible is the Word of God. We believe it is the final authority for the church and for personal living (II Timothy 3:16-17). We believe that the King James Version was the translation given by God for the English-speaking church and can be fully trusted.

God and the Godhead

We believe that God is one and yet exist in three persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  All are co-equal in power and authority (Matthew 28:19).

Man and Sin

We believe that all men have a corrupt nature and are separated from a Holy God. We are sinners by birth and by choice and must receive salvation to escape the judgement of God Almighty (Romans 3:10-23).

Salvation

We believe that salvation is obtained by faith in the completed work of Jesus Christ. It is a free gift from God and can not be earned through good works or religious rituals (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9).

*We do not agree with the teachings of Reformed Theology and the Calvinistic interpretation of Sovereign Grace. We believe that Salvation is for all men who exercise their free will and receive it by faith.

Heaven and Hell

We believe in a literal heaven and hell. Heaven is the future home of all who receive the Savior, and hell is the place awaiting all who reject Christ (John 14:1-6; II Thessalonians 1:4-9).

The Return of Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is coming again. We believe in the pre-tribulation rapture of the church, and the pre-millennial return of Christ to set up his Kingdom (I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20).

Morality

We believe that the Creator of mankind, not mankind himself, determines human morality. We accept and teach all of the Holy Bible’s laws on marriage, human sexuality, abortion, euthanasia etc. (Psalm 19:7-11)
